Fore more than 75 years, Ontario’s unique watershed-based conservations authorities have provided essential services related to flood management, watershed development, and conservation. The proposal to consolidate the authorizes into regional bodies will destroy these venerable organizations. Inevitably the new regional authorities will be dominated by larger urban centres, reducing accountability to smaller municipalities. My parent cottage is on Lake Kashawakamak, and the Mississippi River Conservation Authority manages water levels and provides canoe camping opportunities along the river. Your plan will destroy an organization that works well. Stop this!
