The proposed changes make no sense. They go counter to the purpose of the of the conservation authorities which were set up to protect cities from destructive natural phenomena, mainly floods. This must be based in understanding the local conditions, which will not happen if the proposed changes go through. The costs of damage repairs will be far greater than the preventive measures existing conservation authorities provide. Very short sighted planning on the part of the current government.
