The amalgamation of conservation authorities will mean the loss of all local democratic control. You simply can not have the same local representation of elected officials for seven organizations that you can for 36. Fees should be set based on the needs of that individual area - not the same everywhere where needs vary. If you want to speed up processes then hire more staff - automation and standardization just means you standardize the same errors, the same bad decisions. The development planning and desires of local communities will be overruled with no local oversight.
