Oakville is primarily a family-oriented community. I am not opposed to condo developments but not towers of this magnitude for our town. I understand that the single family type homes built in the 90’s no longer serve the people of our province and our community and we need higher density projects. Oakville’s town planners are already including higher density projects in its plans. Therefore the province should aim at preserving Oakville’s characteristics and what has defined this community, and respect the wish of its citizens. I also wish to add the following comments:
- there are already many condo developments in the community, especially along the Dundas artery, which provide the density being sought without adding ‘overwhelming’ towers;
- traffic congestion is already an issue on Trafalgar between the QEW/South Service Rd. and Cross avenue, which would be amplified with the contemplated number of condo units;
- future ‘higher density’ developments should continue to focus north of the Dundas artery where there is sufficient space to build proper infrastructures (i.e. roads) rather than further increasing congestion on Trafalgar and the QEW
