I’m really concerned about the proposed Western Lake Ontario RCA because there doesn’t seem to be a clear need for such a major restructuring. Combining four conservation authorities would reduce local representation and weaken the community-based expertise that’s so important for managing our natural resources, which is something I deeply value as a landowner near the NPCA. I’m especially worried about the high transition costs and the potential for service disruptions across a region of nearly two million residents.
While I agree that conservation authorities aren’t perfect (and could benefit from better oversight) this proposal feels like an extreme and unnecessary cost for our communities and municipalities.
Thank you!
