This proposal will weaken the local contributions of the conservation authorities. Making these authorities bigger and more centralized will hamper the knowledge and preservation of distinctive areas throughout Ontario. Have we forgotten the lessons learned from large scale environmental issues such as Hurricane Hazel in the 1950's which was the reason for the conservation authorities being created. The ability to monitor local lakes and rivers will be hampered by this consolidation. Please stop trying to condense things that are not broken. The current conservation authorities work well and are the best local source of information from their watersheds.
In summary I am greatly against this proposal. Leave things as they are and provide funding to strengthen them. This is important as climate change will create more environmental issues down the road.
