The amalgamation of the 36 into 7 would be a serious mistake. The geography, watershed challenges and technical gaps cannot be effectively addressed by such expansive consolidations. Some limited amalgamations ( for a few small under funded and under staffed CAs) might make sense.
The province can better deal with the concerns raised by providing increased funding ( which has remained static for a considerable number of years) and by providing policy and program support.
