As a lifelong resident of Ontario, who has been a membership holder for a number of conservation authorities, this proposal is one of the worst ideas to help with conservation. By creating one giant on conservation authority, in particular case one that runs from Peel all the way down to Niagara, we the citizens, who actually live in those areas no longer have the ability to share our concerns and know that they will be heard and our issues taken seriously. And the people running the conservation areas will have their hands tied when it comes to dealing with local issues. Keeping the conservation areas in the hands of smaller regional conservation authorities will ensure that these environments and the wildlife at these areas continue to thrive, and that members voices will be heard if they have concerns.
