I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community.

In essence, in keeping with the principle of subsidiarity, decision making should be devolved (or preserved) at the lowest feasible level of organization. I believe strongly that conservation authorities primarily serve a local population (in other words, the vast majority of visitors to areas under HCA jurisdiction are from Hamilton and its environs) and that its governance model should reflect this.
