This "regionalization" of Conservation Authorities will take away local decision making and politicize environmental decisions for the benefit of who exactly? This proposed change gives the Provincial Govt. far too much control and opens the door even further to more influence (monetary and otherwise) from the free market developers who want to maximize profits at the expense of environmental concerns in our watershed and natural areas. The recent green belt fiasco (fraud?) is fresh in my mind. The present regime in Ontario is not trusted when it comes to environmental concerns and carbon energy reduction. So called "red tape requirements" are regulations and processes that protect us all from environmental degradation and loss of wildlife habitat. We need protection from poor "development" decisions.
