In my opinion this in nothing more then another move by the Ford government to remove more systems that are in place to protect nature and support biodiversity.
Ford's government have already gutted protections for species at risk, now they are looking to spread conservation authority resources further so they have less capacity to challenge problematic housing and business developments. If this goes through I expect all we will notice is more suburban sprawl, increased flooding/water quality issues, less maintenance in our natural spaces, and an increasing rate of local biodiversity loss.
