Thank you for the opportunity to provide input.
I find it very frustrating that service delivery and fees vary across various jurisdictions. It creates discord between CAs, municipalities and the public.
Some CAs charge for parking at the public CA areas/trails and there is a significant range in fees and/or additional fees for same services, e.g. permits.
Some CAs have less and others have more bureaucracies that results in longer processing of permit applications and responses to requests for services. Public access and customer service has become more difficult. There is tremendous confusion for businesses and residents when dealing with different standards/services. Smaller CAs versus larger CAs compete for all types of resources - funding, human, equipment and technology that results in inconsistency and inefficiency. There also appears to be some duplication and overlap with other government/municipalities services.
It appears that each CA is in self preservation mode and do not easily share or collaborate but rather compete.
I agree that the amalgamation of the CAs into 7 regional areas is wise and cost effective for Ontario tax payers and service delivery. Staff that provide field/protection services should remain and a few CAOs and upper management may be reduced. That would not necessarily be a bad thing.
Thank you.
