I completely agree with the comments submitted by the Hamilton Conservation Authority.
I believe local expertise and decision-making are extremely important because each watershed is unique. Each one has it's own geography, size, human population, wildlife population, and size/scale of conservation challenges (e.g., flooding, erosion, habitat loss, pollution, etc.).
I do believe that each conservation authority could be streamlined through a merger of their technology-based systems. For example, conservation area camping reservations, permit applications, flood mapping, etc. could each be transitioned to a type of on-line portal/internet-based system so that all of the conservation areas could share ideas, challenges, etc. while also reducing costs, duplicity, and compatibility issues. Having this type of system would also improve access for the conservation authorities that have less resources.
