I am not at all in favour of this proposed change in boundaries for the consolidation of Ontario's conservation areas. The Hamilton Conservation Authority does an excellent job and why change a good thing. I do not like the idea of people from other areas making decisions for Hamilton. The proposed future size of the consolidated conservation areas are much too big to be efficient. It has been demonstrated in the past that amalgamation does not save money or produce efficiencies i.e. amalgamation of Flamborough and Hamilton. I think the real reason behind this is to make it easier for developers to acquire land and to limit the power of conservation areas. We should be protecting conservation lands to mitigate climate change and preserve them for the enjoyment of our children and grandchildren.
