Hello Minister Harris,
It is with great concern that I comment on the proposal to basically amalgamate the 36 conservation offices. If this transpires it will in fact negate the important local knowledge and community understanding that our present offices bring to decisions. Our office, Quinte conservation already has a large area serving 18 municipalities. The staff do an excellent job, working with the public, planners etc. People who work out of a larger area from Peterborough or Toronto cannot possibly understand the detailed variation of the environment, especially here in Prince Edward County. During this time of climate crisis already happening, we need more local offices and people not less and these experts should have more powers and responsibilities, not less!!
