This comment is submitted to oppose amalgamation Cataraqui Regional Conservation Authority (CRCA) into the proposed St Lawrence Regional Conservation Authority. Stewardship of the lakes and lands in the CRCA should remain in the hands of the people who live and work and play in the region. Folks in the Rideau Valley CA (for instance) know what is best for the conservation of their own region, but they have little awareness of the specific issues of Little Cataraqui Creek here in Kingston, or of Frontenac Park a short drive north of Kingston. Nor do we in Kingston have a reason to care deeply about land use in the Rideau Valley CA. Stewardship of the land must remain local!
