This amalgamation is a massive step in the wrong direction and as an Ontario resident, it is embarrassing that my government proposed this. If we are looking for streamlined and consistent permitting there are other ways to go about it, such as implementing a system or software that all CAs are required to use. People will lose their jobs and it is absurd to claim otherwise. Demoting people so much that they quit, though technically accurate, is not a way around that claim. With how much our economy is hurting, and how many people are struggling to make ends meet, it is so disheartening that the province is willing to let people lose their jobs just to give Conservation Authorities less power.
Please reconsider this proposal.
