I am strongly opposed to the consolidation of the conservation authorities. Each watershed is unique and requires local governance over their protection, recreational as well as development within or near them. It is my opinion that it is still possible to create standard processes for permitting across all conservation authorities when it comes to development without doing an actual consolidation. If you consolidate, what you will end up with is fewer people responsible for a larger area(just like the Federal government did with Department of Fisheries and Oceans) resulting in longer processing periods for permits, care and maintenance of our watersheds.
