Local conservation authorities should be left intact, NOT combined for the following reasons:
1 - Local conservation authorities know their environment and natural landscapes very well, they know local people, they are part of the community, this is part of Ontario communities we want to continue to flourish. Combining multiple CA’s together would lessen these connections and local priorities to keep communities safe with respect to natural hazards in parks, forests, and along waterfronts.
2 - Ontario’s slogan is Open for Business. This includes the business of the CA’s. But combining CA’s, we’re worried about job loss and slowing the process of business getting done such as fixing erosion hazards for the next great flooding event we get, restoring wetlands that are crucial habitats for native and endangered species, etc. Ontario prides on business, and this act will close productivity and business operations in Ontario
