I am a resident of Thunder Bay, and am strongly opposed to the Province’s proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the “Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority”.
The huge geographic distances involved in the proposed Huron-Superior Conservation Authority, the disparate nature of the communities served, the physical separation of new CA into two widely-separated parts covering entirely different ecological zones, all of these factors argue against this proposal. This is a poorly thought-out plan that should not go proceed. Instead, I support the LRCA's idea of a stand-alone “Northwestern Ontario Regional Conservation Authority”.
