I am a Dundasian. Through the idea of amalgamation of the conservation areas into 7 from the current set up we will lose the Hamilton Conservation Authority.
We already are known specifically in this Region for our waterfalls and have visitors come from many areas to hike our trails. Reservations need to be made in advance to visit and the upkeep of these trails are of utmost concern.
Our local firefighters participate in rope rescues when visitors are not careful; heaven forbid the trails are not maintained appropriately with this plan for amalgamation into this 7 conservation areas.
We already take the brunt of the fees of costs for rescues with our Property Taxes that we pay as First Responders are part of our property taxes.
Amalgamation to 7 conservation areas will cause less maintenance for our tails and local regional conservation areas specifically in Dundas; let alone Hamilton Region.
As a property taxes payer; we can’t afford to gamble on less maintenance of the conservation authority upkeep; thus more first responders being required for more than just rope rescues.
We do not have the budget for that.
Leave the Hamilton Conservation Authority in tact.
