I support the proposed amalgamation of Conservation Authorities. Consolidation offers a real opportunity to reduce administrative costs, eliminate duplication, and apply resources more efficiently across the province.
A more unified structure would also promote greater consistency in rules, standards, and enforcement, providing clarity and fairness for landowners, municipalities, and developers. The current fragmented model can result in uneven application of policies and the emergence of isolated “kingdoms” within individual authority areas, which undermines transparency and public confidence.
With appropriate local input and accountability mechanisms preserved, amalgamation can strengthen conservation outcomes while improving efficiency and consistency province-wide.
