By consolidating regions the government is really eliminating most regional conservation authorities. This decision shows the government's lack of respect for those of us who are very concerned about the environment, our local watersheds, wetlands, forestry and wildlife and birds.

The conservation authorities need to be strengthened, given more control and oversight, not weakened and made ineffective in protecting our precious environment, our water, our land, wildlife and our natural resources.

Please, Do Not reduce the number of conservation authorities or the number of qualified people who try to protect our environment from short sighted policies that are only interested in immediate development and financial gains.

We continue to see how bad decisions, and developmental policies all around the world can have devastating and long lasting outcomes. The potential ramifications of this decision, to reduce the protection of our precious natural environment are too dangerous.
