I have personally had to opportunity to complete an internship under a local conservation authority. I have seen how they are committed to improving not only the environment, but the locals lives and well being though their programs. Consolidating our conservation authorities will result in detrimental consequences to our local ecosystems. You can not expect 1 set of people to fully understand, protect, and maintain all of the watersheds and their needs from 100s of kilometers away. It will reduce youth engagement in our environment, and will result in the public being less educated about their local environments. Overall, I personally believe that the system we have in place works, and the only reason it is trying to be changed is so more development can occur on land which should be protected.
