As a citizen of Ontario I am very concerned with the proposed amalgamation of Conservation Authorities.
I can understand the province's desire to streamline processes, but if it is at the expense of our natural environment, I strongly oppose the change.
How is someone who lives and works in a totally different area going to work as hard to protect the environment as someone who lives and works in that area?
And how is the person in that new role going to effectively oversee an enormous area that encompasses multiple Conservation Authorities and watersheds?
The proposal diminishes Ontarians' abilities to provide feedback on, and feel a part of their regional environment and associated Conservation Authority.
Consequently I do NOT support our current government's proposal to amalgamate Conservation Authorities.
