As a professional geoscientist who often goes to bat with CAs in Ontario regarding development setbacks, hazard lands, variances, etc. I staunchly oppose the amalgamation of these important regulatory bodies. Each conservation authority has a long history of monitoring and protecting natural spaces and hazards in their unique jurisdictions, and this kind of knowledge would be eroded over time should larger organizations be formed. Having more centralized management and oversight would be a much better approach, if a tweak is needed. This is a voting issue for me, and will influence how I vote in the next provincial election.
