Please listen to the Conservation Authorities!! Furthermore, before proposing new boundaries, conservation authorities and municipalities should have been consulted about this proposed consolidation. When something has worked effectively since 1946 (and then established regionally in 1954 in response to Hurricane Hazel), in anticipating extreme weather events, it should tell this current government "count yourself fortunate and don't touch something that works so effectively!! As the world moves into an anthroposcene of more extreme and frequent weather events, admit that the current system is proven and works! Fiddle with it and expect lawsuits when private properties built with less oversight, and relaxed regulations resulting from these changes are damaged by floods. Let me remind you that a government's key role is looking after the "common good", not enriching the private development sector.
