I am absolutely disgusted by this proposal. Robust conservation areas are a point of pride for our province. They give people a place to get outside, be that to hike or ski or take their family to the beach. Affordable outdoor activities are integral for a happy, healthy, functioning society.
Moreover, the preservation of nature, defence of endangered species, and research efforts these conservation areas provide are all incredibly important.
Joining them together to undercut their funding and staff levels is vile. It serves no purpose administratively or practically. It’s clearly a back-door way to destabilize conservation efforts and open the door to more development in our parks. Shame on anyone who backs this proposal. Shame on you for mortgaging the future of this province and its children for political expediency.
