Hello Government of Ontario,
I do not support this proposal.
Conservation authorities are local authorities; who know the specific needs of said location. What might be a beneficial initiative for one conservation area, may not be beneficial to all the other areas in Ontario, in fact, results could and likely would be devastating.
I believe the government should vote to keep the conservation authorities separate.
Please do not screw up our conservation areas by implementing something, that, to you, looks good on paper, however, would be devastating to our conservation efforts.
Instead of merging the entire system, Ontario can achieve better results by:
Setting clear, consistent provincial standards across all conservation authorities, and holding everyone accountable to them.
Investing in shared technology, such as the provincial permitting portal, within the current structure.
Providing stable provincial funding to strengthen core programs and modernize operations.
Working directly with municipalities, Indigenous partners, conservation authorities, and residents before making any major changes.
Thanks,
One concerned citizen.
