The Friends of Short Hills Park in the Niagara Region strongly oppose the consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities. Niagara’s distinctive flora, fauna, and geography require specialized management that would not benefit from amalgamation with other regions. This proposal appears to prioritize political interests over environmental stewardship. We urge policymakers to reconsider this approach and invite them to visit the lands managed by Ontario’s conservation authorities to better understand the unique needs of each region. We join with others to stand against this proposal and sincerely hope the current Ford government reconsiders this consolidation.
