The ham-fisted consolidation of Ontario's CAs that is being proposed is a terrible and tragic idea. Proper protection and management of our watersheds, and the nature they support, depends on science-based decision-making fueled by an intimate knowledge of both the local ecology and community. The scant public lands that remain in Ontario are too precious to be managed by political appointees and/or other individuals too far removed from the day-to-day realities of the watershed and surrounding communities to be responsive to community needs.
