I am writing to express my opposition to the merger of Conservation authorities in Ontario.
I believe that local decision making is absolutely essential, and by amalgamating large areas in the province into huge groups makes local decision making almost imposable.
I have for many years been a supporter of my local conservation authority and see no reason to change current practices.
I have noticed no community groups have requested the change other than the development community who frankly see conservation areas as only undeveloped space.
It has also come to my attention that the province only supports approximately 2% of our HCA budget and wants total control.
Sorry, that makes no sense to me.
