I am not in favour of the amalgamation of the current 36 Ontario Conservation Authorities into 7. Each regional authority has the undeniable knowledge, expertise and competence for managing their own waterways. land, flora and fauna, with assistance from farmers and local residents that have cumulatively been gathered over many decades. By reducing and centralizing these authorities, each individual regional needs, specific challenges, history and ability to respond will grind to a halt. We don't need more oversight from the Ontario Government which will slow down the approval process in getting work done. No doubt, many jobs will be lost and so will the accompanying expertise, replaced by people who have no clue about each particular region. Keep your hands off our natural areas and green spaces.
