The proposed conjoining of conservation areas in southern Ontario into a massive greater one, is a terrible idea. Every municipality has different needs, situations, and people. The conservation areas in those municipalities are able to be catered to the place they are, maximizing the service to their communities and the environment. Wide reaching policies and standardized practices can be helpful, but in this case will hinder the functioning of these areas, damage the environment greatly, and hurt the communties within which are much beloved wild places.
I am very against this proposal and conservation authority governance should lay within municipal powers.
