I don’t support the amalgamation of Conservation Authorities. Each CA has valuable local knowledge and insight with watersheds in their own jurisdictions.
I agree that building affordable housing is an important priority that puts people in homes that Canadian workers make, but it has to be done in a way that protects the ecosystems and habitat of animals that we share space with. Reducing the importance of these ecosystems to a term as unhelpful as “red tape” is disingenuous.
One of the many things that makes Canada a great nation is our land. The land in Ontario gives so much to Canadians and people who live outside our borders as ecosystem services, carefully managed resources, and essential spaces critical to our physical and mental well-being such as wetlands, forests, rivers and streams, farmland; and lakes.
I am deeply concerned that the amalgamation of CA’s will reduce the quality of life for people and animals who call Ontario home.
Let’s build homes in measured way by keeping CA’s as they are, and respecting and honouring the quality of the land and all those that depend on it.
