After reading the proposal for consolidation of conservation areas i would be against this proposal. Along with another layer of paperwork this would weaken the power of local authorities to prevent construction in delicate watershed ecosystems. A headquarters miles from an area cannot make a proper assessment on a development. i have nothing against development that has been fully assessed and is in a proper area. However the Ford government has a poor record for development, giving illegal permission to close developers and friends example the greenbelt. He has also worked at trying to develop sensitive beach front on Lake Huron. This proposal may have some good points but reducing local development strategy and power over construction is too much to give up. Looks like another way for the Ford to continue in ways against protecting our natural environment for money.
