I am completely against this proposal. If these changes happen, many crucial ecosystems will be lost to development and housing, leading to environmental degradation and long term concerns that are irreversible. Conservation authorities are doing their job well by slowing permits for development, and they are most educated on making such decisions, NOT the provincial government. As someone who currently resides close to the niagara escarpment in a rural area, we have a close relationship with conservation officials to work around wetlands and prevention of habitat loss. With few houses in this area (Bell School Line), we would like to continue to prevent further destruction of natural land and resources. I am very happy with the work of conservation authorities in my area and do not want any reductions are changes to occur anywhere. They play an extremely important role in protecting the beauty of our province. Instead of focusing on building more housing, there should be greater focus on filling current homes, and making them more affordable if that is the issue. There are already plenty houses and apartments for rent or sale. We need to focus on our own pre-existing communities, not on new immigration needs, since excessive immigration is a different problem in itself. Conservation authorities themselves are against this merge as well.
