I oppose the new boundaries proposed for the regional consolidation of Ontario's 36 Ca's. The best way to free up resources for front line service delivery and community protection is to maintain the current watershed approach.
I believe what must be avoided is the creation of a large, expensive bureaucracy. Providing the existing CA's with sufficient financial and managerial support would be more cost effective than creating more out of touch bureaucracy.
I realize dealing with the current CA's as they exist now can be very frustrating, however it is much more prudent to err on the side of caution than to give freer rein to development. After all, we are entering the age where the unthinkable can happen.
Therefore, I urge the government to meaningfully support and empower the existing CA's to do their work most efficiently and effectively.
