Consolidating Ontario’s conservation authorities is supposed to be a cost saving measure, but it will ultimately harm our province in the long run. It will have negative environmental impacts due to the loss of specialized knowledge from each of the 30+ conservation authorities that currently exist. Consolidating them into less than a dozen conservation authorities is yet another move by Ontario’s conservative government that shows it doesn’t care about our province’s beautiful flora and fauna. From trying to sell off Wasaga Beach, to selling off parcels of the Green Belt, to now consolidating our essential conservation authorities, it is clear that Ford’s government has little regard for preserving our already vulnerable land and nature.
