Thank you for providing this opportunity to comment on the "proposed boundaries for regional consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities."
I agree with the Hamilton Conservation Authority's (HCA) submission to the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO).
I am genuinely concerned that the proposed regionalization poses significant risk of losing local governance, decision-making, and autonomy.
From a personal perspective, nearly 40 years ago, I moved to Hamilton to attend McMaster University. As a young student, I never imagined that I would ever have the privilege and the gift of living in a place with access to the beauty and solitude of nature that the Dundas Valley Conservation Area offers me today. This access remains central to maintaining and improving my physical, mental and spiritual health and well-being.
From a professional perspective, as someone with a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) along with training and experience successfully using "Lean Six Sigma" methodologies and tools to plan, test, implement and evaluate process improvements in health care, I am very confident that the province's aim to improve efficiency and streamline the permit approval process -- along with other processes -- can be achieved without restructuring the entire conservation system.
Thank you for considering my perspective on this issue.
