I was at the SVCA Ag Advisory board meeting on Dec 5th and listened to the presentation by their GM .
This covered the situation with the Conservative guv. and the changes towards management of the CA's.
I felt sorry for the lead, and the gist from what I heard was it was a power play for provincial control of an outside body. That the current Prov. Government butted horns with the Toronto CA and lost out on the potential placement of an Amazon facility. Now we are all collateral damage due to this interaction.

toronto conservation authority and the placement of amazon facility
Local municipalities currently provide between 25% and 50% of total conservation authority funding, while the Province of Ontario provides approximately 3%. If the members of the appointed body answer to the province well it is obvious the direction they will go.
So it's a loss of control to the municipalities
I joined the Ag Advisory board because I was concerned after what happened in Gorrie , Ont after the big rain in June 2017.
the CA's have a pile of land and assets so does this mean Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency is allowed to divest land willed to the CA?
This came up at the meeting, if the land was willed to a particular Authority , not the oversight committee in Toronto. was there legal grounds to contradict the direction taken by the oversight committee
Such a pile of crap, I believe we need less guv. not another layer!
Please look into it, complain toyour MPP, list a comment on the ERO page, the problem is the bill is passed and the ERO is looking for comment on the designation of the geographic perimeter to the 7 new bodies. Not whether they should do it or not. So the horse has left.....
All my best
