This bill to consolidate conservation authorities can only be an attempt by the current government to make it easier for developers to build into conservation lands. Knowing the record of this Conservative government to ease development rules for party supporters there is no doubt that centralizing governance authority to fewer bodies will gradually lead to more controllable boards stacked with PC supporters. Just as amalgamation at the municipal level has conclusively proven not to be a cost saver, this proposal will facetiously be promoted in the same way and fail in the same way. Knowledge within watersheds cannot be made better by creating a more remote governance that is less tuned to local concerns. Stop this hare brained attempt to build over the most ecologically important parts of Ontario.
