I believe this consolidation is yet another move by the current provincial government to aid developers and speculators to build on what should be protected lands, be it farmland, wetlands, forests etc.
And a way to reduce any thoughtful studies and engagements with conservation experts, climate scientists etc in order to speed up development on the aforementioned lands.
One large authority will not be knowledgeable about local issues and will not function in a way to preserve community relationships.
Are there examples of how a consolidation of the current system will have specific benefits (and benefits to whom, in particular?)
