The 36 conservation authorities are greatly needed. They have expertise in their regions that supports better wildlife, watershed and forestry management. This local expertise is vital to protecting Ontario's watersheds, and extant and at risk species (both animals and plants). One size fits all policies are not helpful for the goals of having conservation authorities. Reducing the current authorities to 7 from 36 is preposterous. Speaking further to local communities, this reduction will result in less local input into what's going on in their own communities. The separate conservation authorities, the trails they upkeep and other programming they supply bring people from outside the areas which spurs local economies all over the province. I do not support this amalgamation.
