I am opposed to this and believe it will weaken environmental protections and impair local communities and municipalities ability to control how and why they develop. I live in Wellington County and the new proposed boundaries from GRCA to Lake Erie Regional Authority are too large for effective environmental management. I don't believe this plan aligns with the principles of conservation. It's purpose is to destroy wetlands that currently local authorities manage and onstead build low quality housing in areas that will experience flooding and structural damage. It will lead to longterm environmental and economic costs for municipalities and individuals long after developers have made their profits. We can streamline aspects of conservation without moving the authority to agents that have no connection to the local area. Much like the greenbelt, Doug Ford needs to reverse this decision as he is not qualified to be altering environmental regulations in this province and will pay for it politically.
