Conservation Authorities in Ontario are a key component of watershed management and flood prevention, and in southern Ontario, provide critical natural areas that benefit both ecosystems and humans. The amalgamation of conservation areas proposed in Bill 68 into seven "mega-authorities" takes away the ability of local communities and experts to manage these important natural areas and undermines their ability to effectively and efficiently protect our water resources. The proposed “ministerial overreach” of Bill 68 needs to be thrown out to protect our communities and resources for future generations.
