I deeply disagree with the consolidation of Ontario's Conservation Authorities. I am concerned about decisions about watersheds being made by overly large administrative boundaries instead of local experts who know how to effectively protect their communities. The proposed regions are much too large to remain effective and responsive to local needs. In the face of climate change, prioritizing watershed protection and flood mitigation should be a top priority as a province, and this plan is not a way to do this. The current conservation authorities are pillars of our communities for their local knowledge, protection of vital green spaces, and education, and taking them away would be detrimental for local communities, including my own.
