These MZOs represent a profound override of local democracy and would force extreme and reckless density on Midtown - an area without the infrastructure to support it. The area already experiences extreme traffic congestion and hazardous conditions during peak commuting hours. The Town's OPA70 already permits densities up to 6.0FSI which is very high by any North American standard. The Province's obstinate stance to force the TOC plan is an abuse of provincial power not unlike what we have seen before with the Greenbelt scandal. Closed door planning riddled with confidentiality agreements, minimal community transparency and the championing of a predetermined developer driven plan is unacceptable. OPA70 is a superior alternative providing housing people actually want to live in and faster than TOC. Imposing these MZOs will eliminate a superior alternative for the financial benefits of the developer. The Conservative Provincial Government cannot continue to line the pockets of their buddies. I vote NO for these MZOs.
