The proposed TOC for Midtown in Oakville is ridiculous. One has only to look at existing traffic snarls to see that increasing the density to the proposed level is completely untenable. No area in the world, including the most densely populated centres of Asia, has even half the density proposed for this TOC. Oakville Town Council has a plan that addresses the province's targets and arrives at reasonable density in a reasonable time frame with reasonable infrastructure support. To deny the logic of the Town's proposal is to raise suspicion about "why"? Is there another Greenbelt scandal in the offing here? Who is benefitting by proposing these giant dense towers but putting off the building of them for an extended period? Perhaps these questions should be addressed before any final decision is made.
