Toxins Reduction Act:
1 The purposes of this Act are,
(a) to prevent pollution and protect human health and the environment by reducing the use and creation of toxic substances; and
(b) to inform Ontarians about toxic substances. 2009, c. 19, s. 1.
As a citizen of Ontario, I object to the repeal of this act for the reason that Ontarians will no longer be informed about toxic substances. I object to the use of term "red tape" to eliminate legislation that came into effect to protect Ontarians from toxic substances AND to inform them of their existence. This act requires some industries to explore ways to reduce the use / emission of toxic chemicals in their operations and the repeal of this Act, relaxes the imperative upon them to do so.
Sincerely, Kathy Walls
